Founder's Story

NAKIBUULE CLAIRE [QUEETONE SAX]

FOUNDER AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

In 2006-2008 was the beginning of my Music Journey at“st.Mary Kevin orphanage motherhood”. It began with a dance class of different cultural dances combined with singing and playing different cultural instruments. It was such an interesting journey to take with all cultural skills attained.

In 2009-2012, I joined a brass band where I began to play cymbals as my first instrument and then a snare drum but these were not instruments of my choice though I acquired skills through playing them. In a brass band, only men would play blowing instruments and girls would go for percussion, with me I believed in my abilities but was denied the opportunity to blow wood instruments. I did not give up but took hold one which was of my choice every after we could get done with the rehearsals. Our music teacher saw my passion and accepted me to play a trombone and a chance was granted unto me I entirely gave all myself to learn how to play as it did not take a lot of time since I went into extra time personal rehearsals, Whenever there were functions, I could both play a trombone and dance. Due to my experiences and skills attained, I played in several marching bands for example on weddings school parties among other parties on addition to different brass bands In 2011, we hosted a female saxophonist at our foster home(Director of Muziek Voor Kinderaen Amsterdam) that inspired us a lot with the love and skills she had with her instrument.

Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind and life to everthing

Monique made a group of 5 children and entitled us as the “Five Stars”, this had two girls and three boys all playing 3 alto saxophones and two tenors We were taught lots of classical music and played ensemble music, played with Jazz band with lots of improvisation

Being a testimony with a music skill as support with education my inner voice called a lot on Joining organizations for Orphans impacting the children with music skills in both dance and Saxophone skills to change their lives and getting opportunities for them to acquire Education bursaries with Music skills attained.with all the love I was given at St Mary Kevin Orphanage motherhood by Mum Rosemary Kavuulu and the late Dad Joseph Kavuulu, this was a foundation of spreading the love by Giving back to the community with all this special gifts. 2024/2025 On addition to that as a change maker in communities,it was my Dream to have a music family that emboldens on fellow children's creativity,Discipline, and Life skills impact
