About Music for Children
The 'Music for Children' Foundation was set up to bring music into the lives of vulnerable children and children in underprivileged environments, currently in Uganda and Colombia. These are children who would like to make music but lack the opportunities to do so due to certain circumstances in their daily lives.
The music projects include orientation to different instruments, instrumental lessons, ensemble playing, band coaching, performances and exchanges — giving each child a full and rich musical experience.

Claire has been a role model of how music can change lives for our foundation, as she has been involved with us since she was a little girl learning to play the saxophone. Now, she grew out to be a role model for young boys and girls in similar situations. Claire embodies our mission: giving talented children the chance to find joy, opportunity and confidence in music to change their lives for the better. We are thankful, proud and incredibly happy that we get to play a role in the musical journey and lives of the kids at HCMI!"
Why Music?
Apart from the fact that children can simply have a lot of fun making music, it can contribute enormously to their development. It can give talented children in disadvantaged situations an opportunity to transcend this situation — they find in making music an important outlet.
It allows them to express their creativity and find their own voice. It is good for their self-confidence and self-image. While playing together in a group, they learn to listen to each other, respond to each other, take responsibility and work together.
Furthermore, an increasing number of studies show that music practice is good for cognitive development.
